I received an email asking me to review this product and the service I received, which is why I've include the service issue (shipping cost) in my overall evaluation. Though I have yet to use the mount, I do have a couple of observations to explain my rating. First, no mounting screws are included. For the price, that's annoying, but whatever, I'll buy some Torx screws, which will be better than the hex ones I was expecting to find included. Second, there are imperfections (pits/gouges) in the visible part of the mount, i.e. the one place it should be pretty. Again, for the price, that's annoying. Third, the shipping cost is ridiculous. It added an additional ~11.5% ($16) to the price of the mount. I knew that before I clicked the button to finalize the order, but nevertheless, the shipping should be reasonable ($8 should more than cover the true shipping cost for a shipper of CED's ostensible volume). I was considering contacting CED about the first two issues, but it's low on my list of priorities right now and I don't want to have to pay for shipping back to them since I feel like I've paid more than my share on that front. So, would I purchase the mount again? Probably. I like the built-in adjustable thumbrest, which would cost considerably more if purchased separately to use with the other mount with a replaceable blast shield (Dawson's). Even if you decide you don't like the thumbrest, it's cheaper to remove it than it would be to try out an Arredondo thumbrest (the cheapest of the other available mainstream options, i.e. Dawson's, RHT's, DAA's separate adjustable one, etc.) Hopefully, once it's put to use, it'll be excellent and I'll soon forget the 3 above-mentioned issues.
